Pastor David Hattenfield

Senior Pastor

Pastor Dave grew up going to church from the time he was born. When he was five, he attended a series of evangelistic services at Eckhart Baptist Church, and decided to trust Christ as his savior.

After high school, he went to Cedarville College as a history major. However, the Lord had other plans. The summer of his freshman year, he became a counselor at Camp Wabanna. It was there that he felt that God was calling him into ministry. When he returned to Cedarville College in the fall, he switched his major to Bible.

In 1988 he returned to the Cumberland area and took a position teaching at Calvary Christian Academy. During this time, he renewed a friendship with Pastor Daren Ritchey, who was the founding pastor of Cornerstone. The church voted to offer the position of Assistant Pastor of Christian Education to Pastor Dave, which he accepted in July 1991. In July 2000, he became Senior Pastor.

Pastor Dave is passionate about seeing people grow in their faith. Obviously it is exciting to have someone accept the Lord as Savior, but even more exciting to watch them read and study the scriptures through the power of the Holy Spirit and apply it to their lives.

He currently lives in Lavale with his wife LoAnna. Together, they have 3 children and several grandchildren. He loves playing golf, reading, history, and HO trains!

“Habakkuk 3:17-18 is my favorite verse because it is really the essence of life. Things are not always going to go the way we want them to go. Yet through it all we are to worship the Lord and trust that He is working all things for His glory.”
